![]() Vicarious – a song attacking media sensationalism and its fixation on tragedy and disaster as front-page news – sets a defiant standard, illustrating that Tool have drawn even deeper from the well of creativity that birthed their previous efforts. The follow up to 2001’s Lateralus was never going to be an easy album to assemble, but this does not seem to have been too much of an issue for a quartet who thrive on the deconstruction of time signatures, preconceptions and musical definitions in the process of creating pioneering progressive rock.ġ0,000 days is a phenomenal package – not just musically, for the visual contribution comes once again from the mind of esoteric artist Alex Gray whose psychedelic visions are viewable in three dimensions through a pair of supplied stereoscopic lenses. Five years in the making, 10,000 Days is the fourth official album release for Tool, a band who are nothing short of a law unto themselves. ![]()
